COURSE DETAILS

The sports industry is ever growing. This Level 3 course is aimed at learners who want academic experience and who may aspire to apply to university to study a foundation degree or work in the sports industry. This qualification can be taught as either the equivalent to 1 A Level or 2, which means that when you have finished the course you may choose to go into full time employment.  The BTEC Sport qualification covers a wide spectrum of sports based topics enabling students to gain a wide base of knowledge and understanding within the sector.
BTEC Sport is a two-year course.

IS IT FOR ME?

Does the theory behind sport and the human body interest you? This subject is heavily theory based and not a practical PE subject.
The course is predominantly coursework based and therefore the ability to meet deadlines and take responsibility for organisation is absolutely essential. 

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

This course offers the opportunity to examine and investigate a range of topics from the various approaches in sport including:

  • Anatomy & Physiology 
  • Fitness training and programmes
  • Sports leadership
  • Application of fitness testing
  • Sports Psychology
  • Sports injury management

WHAT DOES STUDYING BTEC SPORT LEAD ON TO?

As mentioned above, this subject potentially leads to a vast range of career paths within the sporting industry. The fact that a variety of units are studied enables students to take the qualification forward in several directions from going to university to pursuing a career within the Sports industry. This could be in the form of working in gyms and leisure centres, to university degrees in Sport & PE, Sport Psychology, Fitness and many more. 

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

The course is assessed in a host of different ways. Each unit will be assessed individually as either written coursework, student presentations, written exam or practical application.
