The Sixth Form at Fearnhill offers different pathways to suit the needs of individual students. The standard entry requirements for students intending to follow A Level or other Level 3 courses is five Grade 9-4 GCSEs or equivalent including a grade 4 or above in both English and maths. Some subjects will have additional entry requirements as detailed in the relevant section for each course.
For students who don’t meet the above requirements, we also offer two alternative pathways. The first is a L2 pathway where students study Travel and Tourism, Events Operations and have a full day’s work experience each week. There is also the opportunity to study for resit maths and English if necessary. The final option is the blended pathway, where students study two A Level courses and one L2 option combined with a maths or English resit where appropriate.
Prospectuses and application forms are issued in January, along with the Sixth Form information evenings at both The Highfield and Fearnhill schools which provide information about the Sixth Form in general and subjects in particular. There are individual interviews with all Year 11 students after the receipt of your application forms. Applications have to be submitted in February. Letters of conditional offers are issued in May/June and at the beginning of July there is an induction week for the students entering the Sixth Form in September.
If you have any questions about entry to the Sixth Form, please contact the Director of Post 16, Mr Ed Dixon via telephone 01462 621200 or email email@example.com. Each case will be considered on its own merits.
