Rate of pay:  £10 per hour

Fearnhill School is seeking to appoint caring, reliable and enthusiastic people to join our hard working, friendly and committed team of invigilators and student support assistants during Fearnhill’s mock and external exams.

The main period of work will be mid-May to mid-July and further work in November/December and February/March may follow.  Hours are ad hoc and can be flexible within the school day.  Full training will be provided.

Administration Assistant

Salary grade and hours:  H3 £16,410 – £16,737 per annum, 37 hours term time only plus 5 inset days

Start date:  ASAP

Working hours: Monday to Thursday 8.30am – 4.30pm  Friday 8.30am – 4.00pm

Fearnhill School is seeking to appoint a highly efficient, reliable, and well organised Administrator to join the team in our busy school office.

The successful applicant must have experience of working in an office, have good communication skills, be able to work well as part of a team and have a calm manner.  Good IT skills are essential, as you will be using a range of packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and Google documents. Experience of SIMS would be an advantage, however training will be provided.

This post is for 37 hours per week and is term time plus 1 week to include 5 inset days.

Fearnhill School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated Caretaker to join our caring, hardworking team.  We are looking for someone who will be proactive and take pride in maintaining a secure, safe, clean and attractive school environment for everyone.

Duties are varied and include security of the premises, non-specialist maintenance and repairs, cleaning and porterage duties, full details are set out in the attached job description.

The successful candidate will:

  • be honest, reliable, hardworking and well organised
  • have good DIY skills and be able to carry out minor repairs and jobs competently
  • be flexible and enjoy working with children, parents, governors and staff
  • be willing to undertake training for statutory requirements, legionella, health & safety, COSHH

Previous caretaking experience is desirable but not essential.  A reasonable level of technical ability in routine maintenance and handy-person skills is however, required.

This is an excellent opportunity for future career progression into premises management for the right candidate.

Student Support Co-Ordinator

Grade:   H8 (£27,741 – £30,451) pro rata £23.625- £25,875 actual

Hours:   37 hours per week, term-time only plus five training days

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is able to engage positively with young people and is committed to their educational and personal success

  • Has experience leading and managing a team of colleagues successfully
  • Is proactive in seeking new opportunities for young people to grow and thrive
  • Has experience working with different agencies involved with young people

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • To undertake the activities of a Designated Safeguarding Lead, as set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), under the leadership of the Senior Designated Safeguarding Lead. Training will be provided for the right candidate if necessary
  • To be available (during school hours) for staff in the school to discuss any safeguarding or child protection concerns and support as needed
  • To lead and manage the Student Support Centre at Fearnhill
  • To raise awareness of safeguarding and child protection issues in line with KCSIE and best practice
  • To initiate and manage required staff training, keeping accurate records
  • To manage referrals, work and liaise with others in and outside of the school in the child’s interests
  • To undergo regular training in order to have the knowledge and skills to carry out the role
  • To hold and share information in line with KCSIE/UK Data Protection Act 2018/GDPR
  • The development of the safeguarding and well-being section of the school website to ensure information and support are easily available to all 
  • Leading on key local and national issues, for example using the Herts for Learning Sexual Abuse in Schools toolkit to benefit the community.

You will be supported by the DSL and a growing team of Deputy DSLs. The postholder will also work as part of a team dedicated to supporting vulnerable students within the school.
