Musical Opportunities at Fearnhill

Following the Key stage 3 Music workshop this week, I wanted to outline the various opportunities for students at Fearnhill to get involved in musical groups and instrumental lessons.

We have a variety of clubs available for students to engage in musical activities:

Monday lunch – Keystage 3 Choir (1.20-2pm)

Tuesday lunch – Fearnhill Voices (senior choir) (1.20 – 2pm)

Friday lunch – Ukulele club – learn to play the Ukulele! (1.20-2pm)

We are also offering a new exciting opportunity for up to 20 students to learn a brass instrument for free in the Summer term through a new initiative called Band Time. Below is some information about this:

BAND-TIME delivers everything required to create a thriving musical community in your school in just one term! With clear, step by step lesson plans, sheet music, games, unique backing tracks and brass instruments designed specifically for the scheme included, your musical year will fly by delivering thrilling performances at the end of each term. Taught in a whole class environment, every child is given the chance to thrive!

The school have received grant money from the music service to purchase new brass instruments to add to those we already have. Those wishing to take part in the band time scheme will need to submit a parental consent form (below). As there are only 20 spaces, the places will be given on a first come first serve basis but a waiting list will be put into place. If the student is successful in applying, a contract will be sent out in the next few weeks to arrange loan of instruments and outline the course.

The band time club will be run after school for an hour, once a week. The day is yet to be confirmed by the brass teacher but will be announced a.s.a.p. If you are interested in the Band time initiative or would like more information on instrumental lessons, please return the reply slip below to Mrs Landsman before Friday 24th March.
