As part of our community work, Fearnhill works closely with primary schools across Letchworth. Throughout the year different activities and workshops are set up through the primary liaison programme to help ease the transition that all primary school students will eventually have to make when they move onto their secondary school. Through gaining positive experiences of the wide variety of subjects they may study at secondary school, students will feel more confident as they approach the end of their primary schooling. They will be further engaged and enthused to move onto the next stage of their education. The opportunity to engage with positive role models from older year groups who are already part of Fearnhill is also designed to inspire and motivate primary school students across Letchworth.
Examples of primary linked activities include:
- DNA Experiments in science
- French workshop
- Creative writing
- Computing animation
- School play performance
- Ukulele workshop
A particular highlight is the annual KS2 Athletics Championships where local primary schools join us for a closely contested event. Every year more schools choose to get involved.
