School Improvement Plan

2019–2020 Summary

All of our planned school improvement during 2019-2020 falls within the two key targets below, with one central objective.

CENTRAL OBJECTIVE

To remove barriers to achievement and attendance for vulnerable groups and ensure good progress by all learners at Fearnhill.

KEY TARGET 1: CHALLENGE AND EXPECTATIONS

To embed the culture and practice of high expectations and challenge for all members of the Fearnhill community.

This means:

  1. Leaders at all levels focus on student progress, with all staff held to account through rigorous line management and a shared understanding of the school’s vision.
  2. Students are fully engaged in their learning in all areas of school life, highly motivated and persistent in the face of difficulty, with outstanding attendance in line with the top 10% of similar schools.

KEY TARGET 2: PLANNING AND ASSESSMENT

To ensure all students experience a challenging curriculum that meets their needs and delivers good progress.

This means:

  1. Consistently high quality teaching for all students as a result of a shared understanding of the curriculum intent, rigorous planning and systematic monitoring at all levels, leading to good progress.
  2. Assessment systems and practice that support planning for good progress by all students.
